Avonna L. (Deisher) Neikirk

Avonna L. Neikirk, 84, of Bellmont, Illinois, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

          She was born, Tuesday, November 3, 1931, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, to Earl and Myrtle (Hutchison) Deisher.  On November 18, 1950, she married George L. Neikirk at Lancaster, Illinois.  He preceded her in death.

          Avonna was an avid Wabash Valley College Warrior fan and an avid Mt. Carmel Aces fan.  She enjoyed working in her flower garden.  Avonna was a volunteer at the United Methodist Village for many years.  She was a member of Lancaster United Methodist Church.

          Left to cherish her memory is her children, Jerry and his wife Trixie Neikirk of Lancaster, Illinois, Patty and her husband Kent Fetcher of Owensville, Indiana, Tommy Neikirk, and, Barbara and her husband Tracy McGill of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; a sister, Searoba Mascher of Marshall, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Jamie, Christina, Heidi, Joshua, Chad, Erin, Patrick, Jonathan and Charles; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

          Preceding her in death was her parents; husband; son, David Neikirk; sister, Estrella Deisher; and brother, Carl Deisher.

          Friends and family may call Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, which is at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home,   527 N. Cherry Street,  Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  Burial will be at Harrison Cemetery.
