Larry Hodgson
Owner/ Funeral Director
Larry, a Grayville, Illinois native, is a graduate of Grayville High School and Wabash Valley College. He received his mortuary education from Indiana College of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has been associated with Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes since 1973, and became part owner in 1985. In 2003, Larry and wife, Karin, became sole owners of Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes and Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Geoffrey Hodgson
Funeral Director
Geoffrey has been working for Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes as an Illinois and Indiana licensed Funeral Director. He grew up in Mt. Carmel, attended St. Mary's School, Mount Carmel High School, Wabash Valley College, and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he received his Bachelors degree in Mortuary Science and Funeral Services. Geoff also has his license to sell pre-need insurance. He is married to Natalie, who is also a funeral director with the firm. They have five children, Gillian,Grant, Gunnar, Gerik and Greta.
Natalie Hodgson
Funeral Director
Natalie grew up in Mt. Carmel, where she attended District 348 School and Wabash Valley College. She attended Southern Illinois University, where she received her Bachelors degree in Mortuary Science and Funeral Services. She is also licensed to sell preneed insurance with the firm. She started working part time, in 2005 during her schooling. Natalie became a full time Funeral Director after her graduation in 2008. She is married to Geoff, who is a funeral director with the firm. Together they have five children, Gillian, Grant, Gunnar, Gerik and Greta.
Sue Alspach
Part Time Office Assistant and Greeter
Sue is a long time resident of Mt.Carmel. She has worked for the funeral homes since 2012 as a Secretary and Greeter during evening visitations and relief daytime Secretary.
Greg Wilkinson
Funeral Service Assistant
Greg was born and raised in Mount Carmel. In 2020, he retired from school District #348 in Mt. Carmel after 20 years of service. Greg has a daughter, Emily, and her husband Tim. They have three children, Oliver, Daniel and Lura that Greg loves spending time with. He has worked part time in all aspects of the funeral home since 1986.
Deana Lavarier
Greeter
Deana was born and raised in Mt. Carmel. She is married to Jeff and together they have three sons, a daughter and one grandson. She has been a greeter and assistant with the funeral home since December 2013.
Sam Williams
Funeral Service Assistant
Sam Williams is a native of Mt. Carmel. He is married to Jennifer, they have three children. Sam works as a part-time employee for the funeral home.
Rachel Martin
Greeter
Rachel's home is Mt. Carmel. She and her husband, Phil, have three children--Noah, Hannah and Sarah. Rachel wears various hats at the funeral home, but greeter is her main role. She has been with Short-Cunningham Funeral Home since 2019.
