Larry, a Grayville, IL native, is a graduate of Grayville High School and Wabash Valley College. He received his mortuary education from Indiana College of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis, IN. He has been associated with Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes since 1973, and became part owner in 1985. In 2003, Larry and wife, Karin, became sole owners of Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes and Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Karin, a Mount Carmel resident since 1973 is the wife of Owner/Funeral Director, Larry Hodgson. She is a retired Director of Nursing from Wabash General Hospital. She and her husband have been associated with the funeral home since 1973 and sole owners since 2003.
Geoffrey has been working for Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes as an Illinois and Indiana licensed Funeral Director. He grew up in Mt. Carmel, attended St. Mary's School, Mount Carmel High School, Wabash Valley College, and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he received his Bachelors degree in Mortuary Science and Funeral Services. Geoff also has his license to sell pre-need insurance. He is married to Natalie, who is also a funeral director with the firm. They have four children, Gillian,Grant, Gunnar and Gerik.
Natalie grew up in Mt. Carmel, where she attended District 348 School and Wabash Valley College. She attended Southern Illinois University, where she received her Bachelors degree in Mortuary Science and Funeral Services. She is also licensed to sell preneed insurance with the firm. She started working part time, in 2005 during her schooling. Natalie became a full time Funeral Director after her graduation in 2008. She is married to Geoff, who is a funeral director with the firm. Together they have four children, Gillian, Grant, Gunnar and Gerik.
Bob became principle owner of the funeral homes in 1985. He retired in 2003 after selling his interest to the current owner, Larry Hodgson. He continues to keep current in the industry by filling in occasionally to assist the staff.
Kim, a Mt. Carmel native, is a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and Wabash Valley College. She joined the staff of Short-Cunningham Funeral Homes in July of 2013. Kim is married to Skip. They have two children, Jinni and Kasee.
Stephanie is a life long resident of Mt.Carmel. She is married to William Umfleet; they have four children and six grandchildren. She has worked as a Funeral Assistant for the Funeral Homes since 2011.

Wanda is a long time resident of Wabash County. She has worked for the funeral homes for many years as a Secretary and Greeter during evening visitations and relief daytime Secretary.
Sue is a long time resident of Mt.Carmel. She has worked for the funeral homes since 2012 as a Secretary and Greeter during evening visitations and relief daytime Secretary.

Greg was born and raised in Mount Carmel. He works full time for the Mount Carmel High School. He has worked part time for the funeral homes since 1986.

Kenny is a long time resident of Wabash County. He has worked for the funeral homes since 1991.

Steve, a long-time resident of Mt. Carmel, is a graduate of Owensville High School and Wabash Valley College. He is a United States Veteran, serving in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970, with one tour of duty in Vietnam. After 27+ years, Steve retired from Snap-On Tools in 2003. He and his wife, Donna, own and operate The Finer Details, auto detailing business since that time. He has been associated with Short-Cuningham for a number of years as a part time assistant. Steve is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and began his religious studies in 2004. Upon completion of the Diaconate program through Saint Meinrad School of Theology, he was ordained as a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Belleville on May 25, 2013. Steve is married to Donna and together they have four children and nine grandchildren.
Vernon Pete James
Funeral Service Assistant
Pete is a long time resident of Mt. Carmel. He attended school in Wabash County. He received his G.E.D. while in the U.S. Army. Pete entered the Army in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1972. During that time he spent 29 months in Vietnam. He went to work for Snap-On Tool Corp soon afterwards, working there for thirty years. Pete was hired by Toyota and worked for ten years, retiring from factory work in August 31, 2012. Pete also was an EMT for 17 years. Pete has been working for the funeral home for over a year. He has been married to Kathy since October 30, 1970 raising two daughters and now they have 5 grandchildren.
Andrew, a Bellmont native, graduated from Saint Mary's Catholic School and
is currently a sophomore at Mount Carmel High School. He lives with his
parents Jason and Carrie Tennis and his younger sister Addison.
Colton, a native of Allendale, graduated from Allendale Community Consolidated School and is currently a sophomore at Mount Carmel High School. He lives with his
parents Beth and D-Ray. Colton has two older sisters, Karissa and Megan.
