Anna Louise (Padgett) Schroeder

            Anna Louise Schroeder of Mt. Carmel passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Meadowood Nursing Home.

            She was born on July 24, 1929 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Albert L. and Marguerite (Miller) Padgett.

            Anna married John George Schroeder on January 9, 1948 in Henderson, Kentucky in the Methodist parsonage.  He preceded her in death on October 4, 1990.

            She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School with the class of 1947, and took some classes from Wabash Valley College and the University of Evansville, Indiana.  Anna was employed as a secretary for Kemper CPA Group for 23 years, retiring in 1991.

            Anna was a member of the Antioch Christian Church, where she served as secretary and she also belonged to the Eastern Star Sheba Chapter No. 722 in Grayville, Illinois for 42 years.

            She is survived by her son, George Michael Schroeder and daughter-in-law, Jennifer of Grayville, Illinois; three granddaughters, Mary Ann (Greg) Rudolph of West Salem, Illinois, Jennilee M. Schroeder and Melody L. Schroeder, both of Grayville, also two great grandsons, Evan Lucas Moore and Jacob Matthew Rudolph. 

            Anna was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John.

            Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017, in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. 

            Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2017, after the visitation at Short Funeral Home with burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville, Illinois.
