Dr. Claudine Denise (Rabiller) Delhomme-Cutchin

June 1, 1960 ~ February 2, 2017 (age 56) 56 Years Old

Dr. Claudine Denise Delhomme-Cutchin, 56, of Allendale, IL, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017.

She was born June 1, 1960 in Aubervilliers Paris, France, the daughter of Bernard Rabiller and Denise Louisette Desgrouas.  She married Jeffrey Barton Cutchin, January 4, 1986.  Claudine was of the Catholic faith.

Claudine received a Ph.D. in History at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, IL.  She had a Master’s Degree in Foreign Languages from Universite De Caen, and Master’s Degree in History from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL.  Claudine was a full time professor and the Dean of Arts and Sciences at Oakland City University for 23 years.  She touched countless students and the impacts she had at the university were immeasurable.  Twice she won Teacher of the Year, and she received an award for mentoring students in the History Club.  Claudine co-wrote an article and a stage production performed at OCU on “Girl-Child Soldiers.”  She loved her students, worked tirelessly to improve her classes, and devoted her life to teaching others.

As a lover and protector of all life, Claudine adopted and took care of all animals that crossed her path.  She rescued and rehabilitated a squirrel, an opossum and countless birds.  She was passionate about all causes that dealt with animal welfare and social justice.

Of all of her achievements, her family was her greatest and most cherished.  The wedding to her husband and the birth of their daughter, Adélaïde, delighted Claudine.  Building a loving and caring home meant the world to her.  Dressing up and going to conventions with her daughter and best friend, Adena Rivas, was a great joy.  She loved traveling with her family; especially to Florida, France, and to the ocean; sharing all that life had to offer with those she held close.  Claudine was an avid learner and reader of history and current events.  She loved life.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 31 years; her mother, Denise Rabiller; her best friend, Adena Rivas; siblings, Philippe Rabiller, Laurence Rabiller and Isabelle Duval.

Preceding her in death was her father, Bernard Rabiller.
