Roberta A Houston

Roberta A. Houston, 92, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Oakview Heights surrounded by her family.

          She was born Tuesday, March 6, 1923, the daughter of James L. and Chole A. (Richart) Hedges in Flat Rock, Illinois.  On January 25, 1942, Roberta married Charles E. Houston.  He preceded her in death.  Roberta was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.  She worked as bookkeeper for Morris Grain for many years.

          Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Carolyn and husband Phillip Fulk of Mt. Carmel, and, Debra and her husband Jim Dunlap of Claremore, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Charles (Kelly) Fulk, Tim (Tammy) Fulk, Matthew Dunlap and Elizabeth Dunlap; greatgrandchildren, Kristopher (Teresa) Fulk, Erika Fulk, Logan Fulk, Spencer Fulk, Phillip J. (Brittney) Fulk and Haley Fulk; and, great-greatgrandchildren, Owen and Olivia Fulk. 

          Preceding her in death was her parents, husband, three brothers and six sisters.

          Visitation will be Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. 

          Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church.  Envelopes will be available at Short Funeral Home.
