Beverly K (Talley) Morgan

Beverly K. Morgan, peacefully passed away on Friday March 18, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and close friends at her home.                   

            Bev was born on Sunday, October 18, 1953 the oldest child of Norman and Bonnie (Helton) Talley in Mt. Carmel IL. When she was born, Bev had two sets of grandparents and three sets of great grandparents.  She married Jeffrey Morgan, the love of her life, on Wednesday September 1, 1972 at Parkview Christian Church. They were high school sweethearts and had been together since she was a sophomore in high school.

            Bev, also known as “the Beav”, was a proud member of the class of 1971 and Parkview Christian Church. She attended Wabash Valley College and started her career at Snap On Tools until she started having children. While having children, she worked for M&S Cementing. When oil prices fell, Bev went to work as a Behavior Disorder Assistant and later as school secretary at South and North School for 18 years and she retired from Wabash Community Unit School District #348 in 2008.

            Bev loved her family and extended family. She loved having family get togethers, traveling with her husband, kids and grandchildren. She loved cooking, going to her grandchildren’s sporting events, taking them shopping and watching them.

            Bev was a strong woman. She loved hard and fought hard. She showed this to many over the last four years as she battled ovarian cancer, always fighting with a smile on her face and fighting for her family. She enjoyed going to Relay for Life events and was encouraged by all her “Prayer Warriors”.

            Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 43 years Jeff, one daughter Jenny and her husband Eric, two sons Derek and his wife Tia and Sean and his wife Diana. She was known as Grammie to her six grandchildren Morgan, Madi and Maddox Meadows; Clay and Kelsey Morgan and Maverick Morgan. Bev is also survived by her parents Norman and Bonnie Talley, two siblings Deb and her husband Steve Winkler and Michael Talley and several nieces and nephews, close friends Dave and Alena Pettyjohn. She was also a mom to many of her children’s friends, Sarah (Decker) and her husband Charles and their son Evan Day, Matt Hargrave, Josh Keepes, Sheri Knapp and many more.

Preceding Bev in death, her grandparents, two aunts, two great aunts, a great uncle and Sheri Knapp who Bev thought of as a daughter.

            A visitation will be Tuesday March 22, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel. A funeral will be Wednesday March 23, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the chapel of Short Funeral Home. Per Bev’s wishes, she will be cremated after her service.

            Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis MO. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
