Alice Jeanne (Waddle) McGuire

Alice Jeanne McGuire, 85, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015, at home surrounded by family.

She was born October 2, 1930, in Wabash County, the daughter of Edward and Mae Higginson Waddle.

Alice Jeanne married Eddie McGuire on August 16, 1952, in Allendale, and he preceded her in death on December 30, 1996.

Alice Jeanne was a long time member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ where she was active in many different ministries.  She worked at Security Bank and Trust, retiring as Assistant Vice President.  She was a gifted quilter, had a passion for traveling and was an avid bridge player.  She was a member of Chapter FK PEO, Reviewers’ Matinee, Study Club and a past WVC Foundation Member.  Alice Jeanne loved her family and was fondly know as Gran to those even beyond her immediate family.  She was a gentle and caring person who remained the anchor for her family with her strong faith and compassion.  She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and David Crow and Allyson and Mick Newport; three granddaughters and their spouses, Mallory Crow, Haley and Brandon Ringwald and Kelsey and Tyler Brosey; a sister, Sharon (Harold) Mobley and a brother, Barry (Inez) Waddle.  Also surviving are a niece, Jenifer Randolph, a nephew, Brock Mobley, and two sisters-in-law, Maxine McGuire Schneider and Marilyn McGuire.  Her family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers and Celtic Hospice for all of their great care and support.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Short Funeral Home with burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery. 

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. the evening of Friday, November 27, 2015, at Short Funeral Home
