Wilma G. McGuire

Wilma G. McGuire, 84, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Green Hills Health and Rehab in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by the love of her family.

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Community Church of God, 1532 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, with Dan Masters officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be before the funeral service, Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Wilma was born July 25, 1938, in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Buell and Flora Abney. She graduated high school and attended two years of college. She married James E. McGuire on July 25, 1964, at Mt. Carmel, Illinois. To this union four children were born:  Bradley S. (Patty) McGuire of Nashville, Tennessee, Brian (Catricia) McGuire of Eugene, Oregon, Melissa (Michael) Williams, of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Terry (dec’d) (Debra) McGuire of Palm Springs, California. Other surviving family members are nine grandchildren: Travis McGuire, Daniel, Nathan, Hannah and Jonathan McGuire, Bryce and Preston Henze, and Cormac and Connor Mayhue; two siblings, Sharon (Earl) Lawton and Marian (Don) Williams of St. Louis, Missouri; and a dear friend, Juanita Pierce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buell and Flora Abney; husband, James E. McGuire; son, Terry McGuire; and an infant brother, Buell Abney, Jr.

Wilma was a member of Mt. Carmel Community Church of God. For many years she worked as a timekeeper at Snap-On Tools. Wilma’s greatest love was spending time with her family and her church family.
