Vicky Lynn (Asbell) Rumsey

Vicky Lynn Rumsey, 72, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away March 20, 2020, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital with her loving husband by her side.

She was born June 26, 1947, in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of William “Red” and Sarah (Bennett) Asbell.  Vicky graduated in 1965 from Harrisburg, Illinois, High School.  On August 14, 1965, she married Gary Rumsey at the Social Brethren Church in Harrisburg, Illinois. 

Vicky was affiliated with Parkview Christian Church.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Vicky was very involved with her children when they were growing up.  She loved to attend their sporting events and was their biggest fan.  Vicky enjoyed reading romance novels, bowling and caffeine free diet Pepsi that she drank every day from Taco Tierra!  If she couldn’t drive to get it, Gary would get it for her.

Left to cherish Vicky’s memory is her husband Gary, of 54 years of marriage; children Mark and his wife LeAnn Rumsey of Evansville, Indiana, and Shane and his wife Bethani Rumsey of Newburgh, Indiana; grandchildren Trevor and Tyler Rumsey of Evansville, Indiana, and Zachary and Abigail Arroyo of Newburgh, Indiana; siblings, Sue (Tom) Boyer of Evansville, Indiana, and Dixie (Wells) Orton of Parawan, Utah; and several nieces and nephews.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ray Asbell, William Asbell and Bettye Hall.

There will be a private funeral service on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Short Funeral Home with burial following at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
