Sylvester J. Shular, 83, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, at The Villas of Holly Brook surrounded by his loving family.
Graveside services for Joe will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
Joe was born on March 17, 1942, in Wayne County, Missouri to Clarence and Hattie Marie (Lawson) Shular.
On December 21, 1962, he married Nancy Marie Kemper in Mt. Carmel and to this union, two beautiful children were born: Jeannie M. Bilskie and Jo Anne Shular.
Joe owned and operated Shular Construction, Inc. in Mt. Carmel for 50+ years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sitting by the fire pit, driving tractors, mowing, and just about anything outdoors. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Joe belonged to the Mt. Carmel Eagles Aerie 3066.
He leaves behind two daughters: Jeannie M. (Terry) Bilskie of Evansville, Indiana and Jo Anne Shular of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Zachery R. (Cassidy) Bilskie and Jessica M. (Aaron) Centers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Nancy; two brothers, Jerry and Paul Shular; and a sister, Helen Cox.
