Steve Rex Miller, 65, of West Salem, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Wabash General Hospital.
He was born February 1, 1956, the son of Edward and Joyce (McKinney) Miller in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Steve graduated from Edwards County High School class of 1974. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church of West Salem, Illinois. Steve proudly served in the U.S. Army.
Steve worked as a tech for Douglas Cable for many years. He announced games for McLeansboro, Illinois sports, and in West Salem coached and umpired local baseball games. Steve was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan. He enjoyed fishing; loved watching his grandchildren play sports and attending family chowders. Steve was Commander of American Legion Post #658 of West Salem, Illinois, and a member of Albion, Illinois, Moose Lodge #621.
Left to cherish Steve’s memory are his daughter, Misty (Dave) Taylor of Keensburg, Illinois; siblings, Karla (Donn) Westray of Villa Grove, Illinois, Lynn (Marty) Hogan of Manchester, Missouri, and Tony (Andi) Miller of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Marissa Seibert, Beau (Hannah) Taylor, McKenzie Taylor, Kenny Taylor, Satchel Taylor and Hank Taylor; great-grandchildren, Waylon Taylor, Jocelyn Brown, Keith Spore, Nolan Spore and Ezra Taylor.
Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Miller, brother, Larry Miller, and beloved dog, Millie.
There will be no service at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
