Sandra S. Kimmel, 78, of Mt. Carmel passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on May 7, 2025.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, IL. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home with burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Sandra was born December 2, 1946, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of James A. Helton and Betty Lou (Smith) Helton.
In August of 1964, she married Ernest W. Kimmel in Mt. Carmel, Illinois and to this union 4 beautiful children were born: Stacey Kimmel, Sonya McDaniel, Sandy Keneipp, and Art Kimmel.
Sandra was a customer service manager at Ayr-Way and Target and was a CNA who worked in local nursing homes. She loved being in the sun and at the river camp. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the neighborhood kids. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan.
Sandra is survived by her children, Stacey (Donald Kamp) Kimmel, Sonya (Dave) McDaniel, Sandy (Dennis) Keneipp, and Art (Crystal) Kimmel; 17 grandchildren, Sara, Nathan, Brandon, Casey, Jessica, Samantha, Jennifer, Matthew, EJ, Jacob, Whitney, Marvin, Jordan, Shelby, Carly, Lexi, and Miley; 43 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Johnson of Mt. Carmel and Kim Miskell of Princeton, Indiana, caregiver, Debbie Lewis, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Ernest; great-grandson, Maxton, and 2 brothers, Robert and Arthur Helton.
