Robert W. Mayhue, 71, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully Monday, April 24, 2023, at his residence with his family at his side.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. A burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.
Bob was born to the late Wilburn and Margie (Cline) Mayhue on April 17, 1952, in Wayne County, Illinois. Bob married Connie Tolley on September 17, 1972, at Ridge Baptist Church in Grayville, Illinois. To this union three children were born: Jonathan (Alison) Mayhue of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Catricia Mayhue (Brian McGuire) of Eugene, Oregon, and Terence (Jeanne Louise) Mayhue of Indianapolis, Indiana. Also surviving are grandchildren, Shelby and Emma Mayhue, Callie and Connor Mayhue, Emma, Charles, Harold, Simon, and Hugh Clevenger and Josephine and Cosette Mayhue. Also, his father-in-law Charles Ray Tolley and sister-in-law Brenda Tolley.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Margie, sister Patty and brother William and mother-in-law Wilma Tolley.
Bob was a member of the Ridge Baptist Church in Grayville, Illinois, and served as Deacon, Trustee, and song leader.
He worked at Snap on Tools for 33 years. Then from 1992 till 2019, Bob worked as a full-time and part-time employee for the City of Mt. Carmel Parks Department.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, and Mt. Carmel Aces fan. Bob was a 4-H leader for 10 plus years and had a passion for Mt. Carmel Little League.
Bob was a music lover and supporter of the arts, especially watching his children and grandchildren. He continually promoted the importance of education and lifelong learning.
