Norman Wellerman Obituary

Norman Eugene Wellerman,79, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away on January 6, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

He was born on October 13, 1946, in Wabash County, Illinois. He was the son of John and Helen (Kraft) Wellerman. He married Cathy Miller in October 18, 2012, in Henderson, Kentucky.

Norman served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant Marine from 1964-1970. He survived and sacrificed his life during two tours in Vietnam. He then spent many years working for General Electric, side jobs with his HVAC skills, built a beauty salon in White Oak, with his bare hands, and ended his career as a foreman in construction for Pizza Hut. He was a Color Guard for all fallen soldiers around the area and a proud member of the American Legion and the VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughters, Elisa Bray of Virginia, Samantha (Joey) Straughan of Colonial Beach, Virginia, and Anne Fallin; sister, Margaret (Dave) Odom of Mt. Carmel, his stepchildren, Sarah Keasling of Olney, Illinois, Brian (Amanda) McCoy of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and Tyler (Stacy) McCoy of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Lynne Wellerman, and grandchildren, Amber (Nick) Seal, Kirsten Straughan, Tonya (Travis) Moore, Ren Usher, Adriana (Rob) MacNeish; and step grandchildren Austin McCoy, Brianna McCoy, Sam McCoy, Emma Davis, Ben Keasking, Liam Keasling, Emmet McCoy, Yuna McCoy, Kora McCoy, Desmond McCoy, and Justin Koonce.

Norman was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Wellerman, two sisters, Rosemary Seibert and Clare Lee, brother, Jim Wellerman, who also proudly served in the Vietnam War; his infant brother, and great-granddaughter Isadora Penelope Moore.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.

Burial will follow the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
