Marla K. (Dicus) Groeninger

Marla K. (Dicus) Groeninger, 63, of Elberfeld, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born June 5, 1958, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Charles J. and Mirlene (Sayge) Dicus.  Marla graduated in the Mt. Carmel High School Class of 1976.  On January 18, 2007, she married Paul F. Groeninger.

Marla was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Mt. Carmel.  She was a direct care professional.  Marla enjoyed being outdoors; especially gardening and fishing.  Helping others was her greatest passion and reward.

Left to cherish Marla’s memory is her husband, Paul; son, Josh and wife Bethany Mounts of Mt. Carmel and Nathan and wife Shanna Groeninger of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Dakota, Brynlie and Jersey Mounts, Addison and Leo Scheessele, and Layla Groeninger; brother, Ben and wife Connie Dicus; nephews, Ben and Angela, Charles and Servan and Liam and Ulrich; and great nephew Braden.  

Marla was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Lewis (Susan) Sayge and Erie (Sara) Dicus; and a brother, Roger Dicus.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life visitation on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home (527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois).  There will be a private family burial.
