Madora Belle (Shaw) Haggard

Madora Belle Haggard, 96, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, is now at peace in the arms of her Lord. She passed Saturday, February 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tony Hodgson officiating. Burial beside her loving husband will follow at Antioch Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., the time of the funeral service.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Worship Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Belle was born July 31, 1928, daughter of Elmer and Minnie Shaw in Grayville, Illinois. She graduated high school. On August 1, 1948, she married Kenneth Eugene Haggard in Morganfield, Kentucky. They were married 64 years.

Belle was a member of Heartland Worship Center in Mt. Carmel. She worked as manager of the kitchen at Lambert’s Truck Stop, a waitress at the Elks and was a department manager at Target. Belle never met a stranger and was loved by all.

Surviving is a son, Barry Haggard of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren, B. J. Haggard, Ty Haggard, and Gracee Belle Haggard; a great-granddaughter, Ivory Ann Haggard; and several nieces and nephews; and a special niece Donna Ross.

Preceding Belle in death were her parents; husband, Kenneth; sons, Gerald and Brad Haggard; and siblings George Shaw, Alena Ross and Lou Neff.
