Judy Whitaker Obituary

Judy Ann Whitaker passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at her home in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 78.

 

Judy was born the fourth child of George and Velma (Kaiser) Helton in Osceola, Indiana, on April 5, 1943. The family moved to Lick Prairie, Illinois, when she was two years old. She attended school in a one room schoolhouse at Lick Prairie. When it closed, she attended Bellmont Grade School. Later they moved to Mt. Carmel. She was in the 1961 graduating class of Mt. Carmel High School.

 

Judy was a member of the American Legion, Eagles and Moose Auxiliaries. She was especially proud to have been a member and to be the first female Past Exalted Ruler of the Mt. Carmel Lodge #715 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, where she produced the Elks Newsletter. Judy worked for the Wabash County Health Department and had previously worked for the SEIAA (Agency on Aging). She enjoyed playing billiards, painting and craft projects.

 

Judy is survived by her sons Karl A. Seibert and wife Dawn and Kevin M. Seibert; grandchildren, Andrea, Ryan and Caitlyn Seibert; sister, Mary Ruth and husband Charlie Kieffer; brother, Jack Ray and wife Mary Helton; brother-in-law, Dan Peterson; special cousins, Larry and Linda Kaiser; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Preceding Judy in death were her parents; grandparents; siblings, Eleanor “Norie” and husband Jack Nation, Peggy Peterson and Robert George Helton; and many aunts and uncles.

 

Per Judy’s wishes there will be no formal services and she will be cremated.
