Joan Joyce Shackelford

Joan Joyce Shackelford, 83, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Oakview Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born January 19, 1938, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Gilbert and Florence (Hilgerman) Trusty.  Joan married Jack Deisher.  After his death she married Jerry Shackelford, who also precedes her in death.  

Joan was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Left to cherish Joan’s memory is her children Mike (Georgetta) Deisher of Grayville, Illinois, Jack (Marci) Deisher of Logansport, Indiana, and Steven (Sailin) Deisher of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; eleven grandchildren Ashlee, Michael, Tiffany, John, Josh, Schalene, Carmen, Jack, River, Daniel, and Leah; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tammy Dudley; son, Darrell Deisher; grandson, Michael Dudley; and her thirteen siblings.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
