Jo Loeffler Obituary

Jo Karen (Thompson) Loeffler, 85, of Allendale, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Oakview Heights.

She was born on Tuesday February 6, 1940, in Oakwood, IL, to Dudley and Clara (Rouse) Thompson. She married Keith Loeffler on Friday June 26, 1959, at the Allendale Methodist Church. Keith preceded her in death on December 18, 1998.

Jo Karen was a great supporter of everything around Allendale. She was an Allendale Ruritanette for many years. She was a very active member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed learning from her Christian Comrade Sunday School Class. She also loved getting together with her birthday girls. She was a 60-year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Surviving are Jo Karen’s four children Tama Grounds and her husband Tim of Allendale, Bryan and his wife Michele of Allendale, Lindsay Rutherford and her husband Richard of Evansville, IN, and Rodney and his wife Lynette of Allendale. Also surviving are eight grandchildren Kelsey (Trey) Beckerman, Madisyn Grounds, Caleb Brown, Maggie (Ethan) Schutter, Cody Brown, Becca (Steven) Lawson, Alex Loeffler, and Allie Rutherford; seven great grandchildren Oaklee, Adeline, Emmett, Elliana, Elliott, Norah, and Greyson. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mildred Thompson and Barbara McCleskey and one brother-in-law, Jerry Potts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Loren and Kenneth Thompson, Edith Potts, and Sarah Evelyn Williams and husband Frosty.

Visitation will be held Friday July 18 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Evangelical United Methodist Church in Mount Carmel, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm at the church, 2010 N Cherry St, Mt. Carmel IL. 

Burial will follow the service in Allendale Cemetery in Allendale, Illinois

Memorial contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association or the Allendale School Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church.

The Loeffler family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Wabash General Hospital, Acorn Estates, and Oakview Heights for their care and compassion over the years.
