Jimmie Arvil Burton

Jimmie Arvil Burton, 89, from Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Oakview Heights with his niece by his side.

He was born April 3, 1932, in Wabash County, the son of Clifford and Viola Deisher Burton. Jimmie graduated from Mt. Carmel High School. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sargent in the U.S. Air Force. On November 4, 1960, Jimmie married Darlene Fay French in Mt. Carmel.

Jimmie worked as a service attendant/mechanic for Dersch Oil Company. He enjoyed reading western books, fishing, traveling with his wife and family, and sitting outside feeding the birds and squirrels. Jimmie especially loved telling stories about the years he spent in the air force. He was of Christian faith.

Left to cherish Jimmie’s memory are his nieces and nephews; his special niece Debra Hollen; and siblings Valarie Patterson and Neva Grubb.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings, Clifford Burton, Charles Burton, and Connie Fortner.

There will be a private burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
