James (Mike) Michael Graetz

James (Mike) Michael Graetz, 64, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away August 17, 2023, at his residence.

Services will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home. A burial will be held following the services at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 5:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.

Mike was born to the late James M. and Shirley (Leach) Graetz on December 10, 1958, in Wabash County, Illinois. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Surviving is his mother Shirley Graetz, sisters: Marci (Kent) Deisher of Mount Carmel, Illinois and Melinda Cherry of Evansville, Indiana. Also, surviving are his nieces and nephews: Sarah Shafer, Ashley Martin, Erin Goldman, Steve Deisher, and Nick Deisher. Along with nine great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father.

He worked for Mount Carmel High School as the Head of Maintenance and Custodial services for 36 years. Mike enjoyed boating and golfing. He was an avid sports fan and truly enjoyed attending the University of Illinois Football and Basketball games.
