James Fisher Obituary

James Steven Fisher, 82, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at Wabash General Hospital with family by his side.

Funeral Service for James will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, with Pastor Daniel Moore officiating. There will be Visitation for family and friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

James Steven Fisher was born July 25, 1942, the son of Van D. and Ruby G. (Bare) Fisher in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He attended Mt. Carmel High School. He married Sandra Lee (Gard) on July 25, 2004. They celebrated twenty years together.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra; brothers-in-law Clarence Barney and Larry Barney; and several cousins.

James was a member of the Hope Fellowship Church. He loved to go to church and participate in the singing. He was a very compassionate person. He and his wife enjoyed riding in the city parades. He worked as a janitor at Skeeter Mountain Rest Area.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tommy D. Fisher.
