James R Dill Sr.

James R. Dill Sr., 75, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away on December 12, 2025 at his home.

He was born on June 3, 1950, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He was the son of Bill Gene and Alviena Faye (Perry) Dill. He married Brenda Reed on May 16, 1972 in Mt. Carmel, IL.

Jim and his father, Bill, owned and operated Dill’s Fish Market. He also enjoyed hunting, trapping, and particularly squirrel hunting. Jim loved spending time with his family and attending get-togethers with his loved ones.

Jim is survived by his wife, Brenda; children, Bethany (Brian) Holbrook of Columbus, IN and Jessie (Sis Lutz) Dill of Mt. Carmel, IL; his brother Bill (Debbie) Dill of Keensburg, IL; grandchildren, Chandra (Chris) Robertson, Billy Dill, Emily Archer, Jimmy (Autumn) Dill, Josh Dill, and Brooklyn Dill; and great-grandchildren, Wade Petro, Luke Dill, Layne Dill, Leah Dill, Ivory Dill, James Dill IV, Violet Dill, Ellie Mae Dill, Layla Dill, and Josh Dill II.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Robbie Dill; and granddaughter Jimmie Sue Dill.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20th, in the chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.

Burial will follow the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
