Hattie Marie (Lawson) Shular

Hattie Marie Shular, 103, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Oakview Heights Rehabilitation Center with her family by her side.

Graveside Services are planned for Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery on College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

Hattie Marie was born  January 22, 1920 to Sylvester and Gladys (Bell) Lawson in Buena Park, California. She married Clarence Shular on June 27, 1938. To this union four children were born, William, Sylvester, Helen and Jerry. Together they started Shular Mobile Homes in Mt Carmel in 1965.

She was very devoted to Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Heartland Worship Center for over seventy years. Hattie enjoyed reading her Bible.

Hattie loved watching her family grow. Those left to cherish her memory include her children William Paul Shular and Sylvester Joe Shular. She was “Grandma” to  grandchildren Mike (Leann) Cox, Lynette (Dave) Klostermann, Dennis (Mel) Shular, Jeff Shular, Robin (Tony) Compton, Christina (Carter) Pierce, Jeannie (Terry) Bilskie, Joann Shular; great grandma to  thirteen great grandchildren; and nineteen great-great grandchildren; nephews Don (Nancy) Lawson and Larry Lawson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband for forty-five years, son Jerry Shular, daughter Helen Elaine Cox, brother Sylvester Lawson, Jr., and grand child Rick Cox, nephew David Lawson.
