Gary Wayne Liddle

Gary Wayne Liddle, 75, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana with his loving family by his side.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home conducted by Pastor Mark Richison.  Gary will be buried with full military rites at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Donations in Gary’s memory can be made to U. S. A. Military Veterans Honor Guard or Wabash County Shelter Buddies. Envelopes will be available at the visitation and service at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.

Gary was born on January 11, 1950, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois to Leon P. and Sarah M. (Sprinkle) Liddle. He was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School Class of 1968. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

He married Diane Williams on August 5, 1972, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel. They enjoyed 52 years together. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service. Gary was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge 715, VFW, West Berwick Golf Club, and MCHS Alumni Foundation.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Diane; daughter, Leesa D. Swaggerty; grandchildren Luke and Chase Swaggerty; and siblings Mark Liddle and Randy Liddle of Mt. Carmel. Gary loved nothing better than watching his grandchildren in their activities. He enjoyed horse racing, playing golf, and working in his yard.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
