Everett Daniel McKinney

Everett Daniel McKinney, 65, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, Indiana. 

He was born April 20, 1954, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the son of Oakley Everett and Rosena Evelyn Danielson McKinney. He married Johnnie Mae Henson on June 4, 1977, in Elkton, Kentucky.  Their Temple sealing for time and all eternity was on March 14, 1980, in the Washington D.C. Temple.

Everett was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He worked for Penske in Logistics. Everett enjoyed working on cars, hunting deer and squirrels, fishing and riding motorcycles.  He was a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Johnnie, of 42 years; three children, Eric Daniel McKinney, Timothy Lee McKinney, and Aaron Lee McKinney all of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; four brothers and two sisters, Dora Mae McKinney Miles (James deceased) of Russellville, Kentucky, Oakley Wayne McKinney (Mary) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Vickie Highsmith Cogswell, (Johnny) of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Joseph Ivan McKinney (Sharon) of Los Vegas, Nevada, George Albert McKinney (Mary) of Centralia, Illinois, Mark Amos McKinney (Linda) of Louisville, Kentucky; mother in law, Ruth Hannah Adams Henson of Princeton, Indiana; and, a large extended family of nieces and nephews that he loved. 

Everett was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lenoard Ray Hopper (Martha), Sharon Grove, Kentucky, Charles Leo Hopper (Norma Jean, Jane, Jean) Chicago, Illinois, Charles Everett McKinney, Morgantown, Kentucky; four sisters,  Luvena McKinney, Morgantown, Kentucky, Linda Lou Hopper, Browns, Illinois, Betty Charline McKinney, Vienna, Illinois,  Loretta Faye (Tootie) Hopper Shutts (Howard), Sharon Grove, Kentucky, Patricia Luvena McKinney Vestal (LeRoy), Arkansas; his father in law, John Hi Henson, Mt. Carmel, Illinois; and a brother in law Nick Henson, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
