Ellen "Jackie" Virginia (Dardeen) Sampson

Jackie Sampson, 93, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

She was born October 24, 1925, in Wabash County, Illinois, the daughter of Bernard and Clo Ellen (Lancaster) Dardeen.  Jackie married James Karl Sampson May 29, 1944.  He preceded her in death September 2, 2018, after 74 years of marriage.

Jackie was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Mt. Carmel.  In her younger years she enjoyed teaching Sunday school.  She devoted her life to the Lord and family.  For 32 years Jackie worked at North School as a cook.  She loved to travel. 

Left to cherish Jackie’s memory are her sons, Bobbie and his wife Janet Sampson and James Harold Sampson; eleven grandchildren, Kerry, Steve, Tracey, Joe, Ellen, Selena, Craig, Paul, David, Mark and Lessine; twenty-nine great grandchildren; eighteen great-great grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Imogene Price, Harold Ray Dardeen and Robert Lewis Dardeen.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Lee Sampson; two grandchildren, Jason and Jackey; and siblings Jim Dardeen and Russell Dardeen. 

Visitation will be at Short Funeral Home on Thursday, November 29, 2018, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m.  The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with burial immediately after at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
