Ellen M. (Dee) Bass, 61, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away January 20, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family.
Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 125 W. 5th Street, Mt. Carmel, IL, with Fr. Robert Zwilling officiating. A burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home with a Rosary taking place prior to the visitation at 3:30 p.m.
There will be a 'GOING HOME" party for Ellen beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Elks/K of C, 212 W. 5th Street, Mt. Carmel, IL, following the memorial service on Saturday, February 1, 2025 and all family and friends are invited to attend.

Ellen was born to the late Joseph Roy Dee, Jr., and Mary Ann (Fanning) Dee on April 9, 1963, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Left to cherish Ellen’s memory are her children; Alissa (Terry Scott) Trail of Mt. Carmel, IL; Amber Wilkinson of Albion, IL; Adam (Mary Elizabeth) Wilkinson of Mt. Carmel, IL; Chelsea Bass of Oak Grove, LA; and Callie Bass of Oak Grove, LA; siblings, Coleen (Merle) Butterick of Ashville, NC; Teresa Salmon of Deland, FL; J. Roy (Debbie) Dee, III, of Mt. Carmel, IL; Susan Crabb of Ocala, FL; Angela (Ed Sikora) Dee of Aliceville, AL; Jean (Matt) Lewis of Edwardsville, IL; Sara (Dave) Kroeger of Seneca, SC; and Mike (Shannon) Dee of Aliceville, AL, and grandchildren, Ashlin Trail, Willow Trail, Gator Wilkinson, August Wilkinson, Sadie Wilkinson, Arlo Wilkinson, Clint Moore, and King Bailey.
Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, John R. Dee, Kathryn Banks, and Patricia Dee.
Ellen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She loved to garden, grow beautiful flowers and vegetables, which she enjoyed sharing.
