Deloris Odonna (Lane) Woods

Deloris Woods, 88, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, at her home surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born March 30, 1933, at Knox County, Indiana, the daughter of Harold and Hester (Young) Lane.  Deloris graduated high school and attended two years of college.  On December 9, 1948, she married Richard A. Woods, in Morganfield, Kentucky. 

Deloris devoted her life to nursing.  She loved every patient she came in contact with and the people she worked with.  Deloris enjoyed traveling, taking care of children and her dogs.  She was a member of Heartland Worship Center.

Left to cherish Deloris’ memory are her granddaughters Amanda (Jonathan) Vanderhoff and Nyssa Woods, both of Mt. Carmel, and a brother, Ronnie (Kay) Lane of Vincennes, Indiana. 

Deloris is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Sarah Ellen Woods, and brother Dick Lane.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021, in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Highland Memorial Cemetery,

COVID-19 precautions, wearing of face coverings, social distancing and use of hand sanitizer is recommended.

Memorials can be made to Alzheimer’s Association.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
