David "Danny" Speth

David “Danny” Speth, 72, of Allendale, Illinois passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at his home.

Services for Danny will be Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral, 527 N Mulberry St., in Mt. Carmel, IL. Burial will follow in Allendale Cemetery, Allendale, Illinois.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Danny was born on April 4, 1951 to the late David Anthony and Lorna Fern (Witsman) Speth in Princeton, Indiana. He graduated from Allendale High School Class of 1970. He married Vicky Jones on June 12, 1971 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel. They enjoyed traveling, especially to Disney World.

Danny was active in his community. He served as Fire Chief of the Allendale Fire Department, he retired after over fifty years of service. He was a Grill Master and participated in many Bar B Que Festivals for several years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty-two years ,Vicky, children, Chris (Carrie) Speth of Evansville, Indiana, Heather Murrell of Midlothian, Virginia; grandchildren, Carley (Braden) Nichols, Caden (Eme Elleser, fiancée) Speth, Camren Speth, Ethan Murrell and Liam Murrell.

He grew up working for his Dad in the McGowen & Speth Plumbing. In 1976 he and his brother Jim took over the ownership and renamed it to Speth Plumbing. He enjoyed providing DJ service for several years. He played Dungeons & Dragons with his friends and celebrated Halloween decorating and haunted houses.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Jamie Michelle Speth and brother James Speth.
