David Keith Fortner, 68, of Grayville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Wabash General Hospital.
He was born December 11, 1952, the son of Jesse A. Fortner and Winnie (Sisk) Brown in Wabash County, Illinois. He married Gladys L. Richardson November 14, 1998. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2011. David was a member of the Nazarene Church.
David was a truck driver. He hauled crude oil for Big Heart Trucking Company and later he hauled scrap metal. David was a member of the American Legion. His enjoyment was driving the back roads.
Left to cherish David’s memory are his children Angela Fortner, Bradley Fortner and David S. Fortner, all of Sharon Grove, Kentucky, and Amanda Shumake of Elkton, Kentucky; a brother, Gary Fortner; six grandchildren; and, several nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Fortner and Winnie Brown; wife, Gladys L. Fortner; grandson, Elisha Blayne Fortner; and siblings, Eddie Fortner, Mary Adams and Ann Compton.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation Friday, June 11, 2021, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home (527 N Mulberry) with a graveside service following at 3:30 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
