Darrell Wayne Ensminger, 80, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed from this life Monday, February 12, 2024. He was the son of Wayne Elmer and Meredith Lucille (Ridgway) Ensminger.
Darrell was an active member of Lick Prairie Christian Church. He attended and graduated from Shawneetown Illinois High School. Darrell worked at Chicago Lock. After moving to Mt. Carmel, Illinois, he worked as a farmer and sold feed for Morman Feed.
He loved river fishing. Darrell always caught and fried fish for his church’s annual Fish Fry. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to remember Darrell are two brothers, Donald (Laurie) Ensminger, Charles (Karen) Ensminger and sister, Meredith Hale; nephews, Troy, Sheltin and Kaidin Ensminger and Greg (Robin) Hale; nieces, Alice Broster (fiancé, Jeff Wilkison), Emily (David) Wright, Miranda Broster, Dorey Stone, Marissa (David) Higgerson and son; and special friend, Patricia Williams.
Preceding Darrell in death were his parents; a son, Michael Wayne Ensminger; and brother, Russell Ensminger.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunnigham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Visitation will be prior to the funeral service from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Lick Prairie Cemetery.
