Catherine P. (Neville) Shelton

Catherine P. Shelton, 95, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021, at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab Center in Mt. Carmel.

She was born December 1, 1925, in Maumee, Ohio, the daughter of Jerome and Mamie (Biedenkopf) Neville.  On April 25, 1943, she married Charles H. Shelton in Lincoln City, Indiana. 

Catherine was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church.  For over thirty years she served as a Sunday school teacher and/or worked in the nursery at the church.  Catherine enjoyed cooking and was known for her delicious German chocolate cake and cherry delight!  Her greatest love was for her family and playing with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish Catherine’s memory is her daughter Linda Terry and her husband William of Winter Park, Florida; grandchildren Travis (Wendy) Terry, Jennifer Terry, Mark (Lauren) Shelton and Kate Shelton; greatgrandchildren Mason, August and Allison Terry and Daniel Shelton; siblings Betty Kaetzel and Frank Neville; and several nieces and nephews.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Charles William “Bill” Shelton; and siblings Jane Ellis and Alice Guth.

A visitation of family and friends will be Monday, March 1, 2021, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery where she will be placed beside her husband.

COVID-19 precautions, wearing of face coverings, social distancing and use of hand sanitizer is recommended.
