Bernard L. Turpin, 73, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be held at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Harrison Cemetery, Lancaster, Illinois.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Bernard was born in his grandparents’ home December 26, 1950, to Robert L. Turpin and Viola Ruth (Fildes) Turpin in Mt. Erie, Illinois. He graduated from Albion High School and received as Associate Degree from Olney Central College. Bernard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
On July 6, 1973, he married Marilyn Neikirk at the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Illinois. To this union two daughters were born: Jamie Turpin and Melissa (John) Henson of Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Along with his wife and daughters, five grandchildren survive: Nick, Curt, Joe, Jesse, and Sadie Henson; and two sisters: Barbara Gaulden and Roberta (Allen) Smith of West Salem, Illinois.
Preceding him in death were parents, Robert L. Turpin and Barb, and Viola Ruth Wisner and Don, and a brother, Clyde Turpin.
Bernard worked forty-six years for Champion Labs in the tool and die department. He was a member of VFW. Bernard enjoyed riding his 1972 Harley Davidson Sportster. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.
