William Trapp Obituary

William Joseph Trapp, 94, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Oakview Heights surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born April 7, 1925, the son of Ben and Edna (Peters) Trapp in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  Bill married Doris Willett on September 14, 1949 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church.  They had been married 61 years when she passed in 2010.

 

Bill was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  He was a lifetime farmer.  Bill was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was in the Army National Guard.  He enjoyed reading, history and being with his family.

 

Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his children, Marilyn Redding and husband Paul, Alice Wirth and husband Gary, Francie Perry and husband Jack, and daughter-in-law Gigi Trapp; grandchildren, Amy Hale, Sarah Trapp, Erin Mann, Kelly Farr, John Trapp, Katie Pearson, Audrey Jones, Cori Wohlhueter, Spencer Redding, Michael, Daniel and Christopher Wirth, Hilary Wiemers; great-grandchildren, Chase Hale, Madeleine, Lucy and Jack Mann, Silas Farr, Ronan Trapp, Anna Grace Pearson, Madelyn, Molly and Charlie Jones, Joanna and Sydney Wohlhueter, Luke Redding, Ethan Pezzani and Ashton Wirth; and, a twin sister, Wilma Taylor.

 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sons, Jed and Steve Trapp; and sisters, Mildred Presnell, Freida Trapp and Clara Bailey.

 

Friends and family may call for visitation on Friday, May 17, 2019, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, with Rosary being held at 4:30 p.m. prior to the visitation. 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 125 W. 5th Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois and burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. 

           

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School and American Diabetes Association.  Envelopes will be available at Short Funeral Home and at the church the day of the funeral.
