Waldo Harold Wright, 85, of Bonita Springs, Florida, (formerly of Mt. Carmel) peacefully passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019.
He was born October 24, 1933, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the son of Vance Clifford and Mildred Louise (Eagleson) Wright. Waldo graduated in 1952 from Haubstadt High School. On July 10, 1954, Waldo married the love of his life, Barbara A. Banks in Owensville, Indiana. They had been married 62 years when she passed June 17, 2017.
Waldo was a member of Gospel Kingdom Church. He helped build Gospel Kingdom Church in Mt. Carmel. Waldo worked for the U.S. Postal Service from the age of 25.
He enjoyed coin collecting, gardening, fishing, hunting and traveling. Waldo traveled to Niagara Falls, Canada, North and South Dakota, Smoky Mountains, Florida, Wisconsin Dells, Colorado and camping in Michigan with family. He loved family get togethers. Waldo was a trusted and loyal friend.
Left to cherish Waldo’s memory are his children, Sheri David and husband Greg, Michael Wright and his wife Linda, and Timothy Wright; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dudley Wright, Delores Parker, Bonnie Watson, Edward (Roxie) Wright, Jane Wardrip, Rex Wright and Geraldine (Wayne) Rantz; and many nieces and nephews.
Waldo was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter, Wilda Bostick.
Visitation for Waldo will be Saturday, October 5, 2019, from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at Gospel Kingdom Church, 1440 West Third Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
