Stewart E Grant, Jr.

March 9, 1954 ~ September 23, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Stewart Eugene “Stu” Grant, Jr., 63, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, Newburgh, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Stu was born March 9, 1954, the son of Stewart E. and Joann (Mobley) Grant, Sr. in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.   He married Marla Harris August 9, 1975, in Cofax, Illinois.

Stu’s life was defined by three pillars; his family, his faith, and his business. Following in his grandfather, Melvin Mobley’s footsteps, Stu became an Auctioneer.  He owned and operated Mobley & Grant Auction & Appraisal Co., Inc.  Stu was very active in the community, and auctioneered at many fundraisers in Mt. Carmel.  Stu was a devoted member of Parkview Christian Church, where you could find him any given Sunday proudly sporting his Cubs attire.  He was an avid fisherman who always had a tale to tell and a rod and reel at the ready.

Left to cherish Stu’s memory is his wife of 42 years, Marla.  Their marriage was a loving depiction of best friends experiencing life together. He was incredibly proud of his 5 children, Brandon Grant and daughter-in-love Jamie of Santee, California, Bradley Grant and daughter-in-love Shaylon of Decatur, Illinois, Bryan Grant of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Bethany Belden and son-in-love Zane of St. Elmo, Illinois, and, Beau Grant of Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Stu was blessed with 9 grandchildren; Gatsby, Elyse, Iggy, Shepherd, Hope, Brix, Connor, Benson and Zoah. He also leaves behind a sister Genie Grant-Mann and brother-in-love Stephen of Prescott, Arizona and his loving mother Joann Grant of Cottonwood, AZ.

Stu is preceded in death by his father, Stewart E. Grant, Sr.
