Ruth Maxine (Clark) Banks

Ruth Banks, 89, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at Oakview Heights Continuous care in Mt. Carmel.

Ruth was born Wednesday, December 28, 1927 in Edwards County, IL, the daughter of Clayton and Ethel Clark.  She married Raymond Junior Banks on September 15, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2009.  

Ruth was a member of the Gospel Kingdom Church in Mt. Carmel. She worked for the Montgomery Ward store for many years and enjoyed selling Avon. She also loved crocheting and canning.

She is survived by two children, Dixie Rae Mann of Mt. Carmel and Steven Kent (Katie) Banks of West Palm Beach, Florida; Six grandchildren, Melanie Banks, Page (Jay) Kuhlman,  Shelly (T. J.) Uel, Denise (“Doc”) Rodgers, Kyle (Erin) Mann, and Becky (Brandon) Hodgson; 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was known by her grandchildren as Grandma and Grams and great-grandchildren as Memaw and Grandma Ruth. Also surviving are siblings, Mary Nell Brock, and Carl Clark, both from Albion, IL.

Preceding her in death were her parents, an infant son; a son-in-law, Dean Mann, her sisters, Dortha Albritton and Velma Smith.

Visitation will be Thursday June 1, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gospel Kingdom Church, 1440 W 3rd St, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

Funeral services will be Friday June 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Gospel Kingdom Church with burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Carmel.
