Robert W. Knight

Robert W. Knight, 77, of Grayville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi, Illinois.

He was born September 30, 1939, in Edwards County, Illinois, the son of Samuel B. and Genevieve (Garner) Knight.  In 1958 Robert married Sharolene Hull at the First Baptist Church in Grayville, Illinois.

Robert worked twenty years at the Na-Churs Plant Food and ten years at the Alpine Plant Food.  He farmed fifteen years in Wayne County.  Robert had a degree in ministry and served as pastor for the Nazarene Church in Mt. Erie and was an associate pastor of the Nazarene Church and Heartland Worship Center in Mt. Carmel for many years.  He was also active in the prison ministries in Robinson, Illinois. 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Sharolene; children Debbie Fry and her husband Mike of Mt. Gillard, Ohio, Diana Harrell and her husband Ronnie of Cisne, Illinois, Doug Knight of Evansville, Indiana, and, Darla Enderle and her husband Tony of Oran, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Misty (Kyle) Walsh, Mitch (Sarah) Fry, Matt (Kelly) Fry, Karissa (Travis) Wilson, Zack Harrell, Justin Muniz and Danny Muniz; four greatgrandchildren; a brother, Sam (Sue) Knight of O’Fallon, Missouri; and, a furry companion, his dog, Buddy.

Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings Marcella Broster and Don Knight.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville, Illinois.
