Mickey T. Smith

Mickey T. Smith, 66, of Mt. Carmel, passed away on Saturday August 22, 2015 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab.

He was born on Thursday March 10, 1949 in Owensboro KY, the son of Roy and Anita (Hagerman) Smith. He married Debby Cole on Thursday August 21, 1971 in Hartford KY and she survives.

Mickey graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1971 and remained an avid UK basketball fan. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. He was very active in the church as the chairman of the deacons, bus ministry and taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday school for 28 years.

He worked for Ashland Pipeline for 25 years and CountryMark Logistics for 19 years as a pipeline engineer for both companies.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 44 years Debby, three sons Jim Smith of Bloomington IL, Mike Smith of Evansville IN, and Brad and his wife Molly Smith of Nashville TN and two granddaughters Charlotte and Emily Smith of Nashville TN.

Preceding Mickey in death were his parents.

Visitation will be Monday August 24th 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 130 W 6th Street, in Mt. Carmel IL.

Funeral services will be Tuesday August 25th 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel with burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Baptist Church Bus Ministry, 103 W 6th St Mt. Carmel IL 62863, or to the Wabash County Animal Shelter, 11336 N 1550 Blvd Mt. Carmel IL 62863. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
