Martha J. Brown

Martha J. Brown, 83, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018, at The Waters of Princeton.

She was born October 12, 1934, in Wabash County, Illinois, the youngest child of Frank and Loretta Grace (Ross) Hedge. 

Martha was a member of Heartland Worship Center.  During her life, she worked as a waitress for many restaurants in Las Vegas and owned her own restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee at Charles Baker Airport.  Martha enjoyed talking about Elvis Presley.   She also loved to tell stories and jokes that made her friends and family laugh.  Martha also loved writing poetry.

Left to cherish Martha’s memory is her children, Telisa Brown and Kathy Foote of Mt. Carmel and Todd Brown of Grayville; siblings Ida Hedge and Joy Knight; nine grandchildren; and, seventeen great-grandchildren. 

Martha was preceded in death by her sons Gil Clark, Kevin Clark and Donnie Brown; siblings; parents; and, ex-husband Don Brown.

Per her wishes Martha is being cremated.  There will be a graveside memorial service for Martha, K-Don and Donnie Brown, Friday, May 18, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Section C, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
