Jeannette Risley

Jeannette Risley, 93, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2019, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation surrounded by her loving family.

She was born February 6, 1926, in Wabash County, Illinois, the daughter of Harry O. and Verna Mae (Peterson) Sager.  After graduating high school, Jeannette attended business school.  On May 13, 1960, Jeannette married Carroll C. Risley.

Jeannette was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.  There, she was involved in Debra Circle and the Walk to Emmaus.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Rotary Club.  Jeannette loved playing cards with her friends.

She worked as secretary for Mundy Insurance for many years.

Left to cherish Jeannette’s memory are her children, Judy Longtine and her husband Bob of Naperville, Illinois, and Jack Risley and his wife Judy of Franklin, Tennessee; grandchildren, Julie Lackner, Chris Longtine, Jennifer Bambule, Jana Gibson and Amy Risley; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephew, Jane Voigt, Joyce Newkirk and Jerry Sager; and several great and great great nieces and nephews.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings Virginia Langley, Ray Sager and Corban Sager. 

Funeral services for Jeannette will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will immediately follow the funeral at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive.
