German Military Historian and author, Dennis Havill (Denis Havel) passed away on Friday, November 02, 2018. He was born August 19, 1952, the son of Frank Walden Havill and Ruth Denise Havill. A staunch Calvinist, he was baptized into the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Carmel, Illinois of which he was a member. He lived his life according to the maxim: simple though at times hard law.

He has done his duty and rest is now his.
Life is duty; duty is Life.

He is survived by brother Frank W. Havill, Jr. and wife Sandra of Lawrenceville, GA; sister, Juanita R. Havill and husband Pierre Masure of Sonoita, AZ; nieces and nephews, Nicole Havill, Aimee Masure and Gustav Masure; and longtime friend, Naomi Cox.
Donations may be made to the Mt. Carmel Public Library for purchase of books of European history.
