Wanda Trapp

Wanda Trapp, 95, of Mt. Carmel, IL, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab with her family by her side.

She was born on Monday, July 30, 1921 one of nine children of Benoni and Mary Ellen (Heagele) Kenshalo in Fairfield, Wayne County, IL.  She married Paul Joseph Trapp on April 12, 1944 in Mt. Carmel. He preceded her in death September 15, 2001.

Wanda loved spending time with family and friends. She liked to bake, and work in her flower garden and share with those around her. She especially liked to have Tea Parties.  She was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church, active in the Daughters of Isabella and Home Extension. She and her husband, Paul, worked side by side on the family dairy farm.

Left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Phillip Trapp and his wife Linda of Mt. Carmel and Edward Trapp and his wife Barbara of Ft. Branch, Indiana; grandchildren James Trapp, Robert (Dani) Trapp, Denise (Anthony) Brescher, Lindsay Hill and Selena (Rory) Nolan; great grandchildren, Isaac and Jason Trapp, Riley, Kasey and Emily Brescher, Ryker Nolan and Garrett Hill; and special friend Irene Ankenbrand.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Paul of 57 years; son, Dennis; sisters, Ella, Edna, Betty, Thelma and Mildred; and brothers, Daniel, Marshal and Kenneth.

The family will receive visitors at Cunningham Funeral Home, 403 N. Cherry Street, Mt. Carmel on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.

The Celebration of Funeral Mass in Wanda’s memory will be Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 125 W. 5th Street, Mt. Carmel.  Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Mary Catholic School, 417 Chestnut, Mt. Carmel, IL. Donation envelopes will be available at visitation or can be mailed to the school.
