Vaneta Louise Anderson, 97, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 at Transcendent Health Care in Owensville, Indiana.
She was born Saturday, January 26, 1918 in Wabash County, Illinois to Eilert and Theresa (Severns) Schonaman. She married Lewis G. Anderson Thursday, November 5, 1936 in Mt. Carmel; he preceded her in death.
Vaneta was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Mt. Carmel. She enjoyed painting china and was a member of the International Porcelain Artist Association. She was a hairdresser much of her life and owned and operated her own shop, The Silhouette, for 35 years. She was the first woman in Mt. Carmel to have a real estate license and worked for Leeds Realty.
Left to cherish her memories is her daughter-in-law, Wanda Anderson Wagner of Fort Branch, Indiana; grandchildren, Renee Weymouth and Mark Lewis Anderson, both of Fort Branch; great granddaughter, Rochelle Weymouth; sister, Ann Bagbey of Evansville, Indiana; special niece, LaVerne Belton, and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Lewis; son, Roger Anderson; brothers, Frank, John, Pete and Walter Schonaman; and sisters Elma Mason and Gladys Frederick.
Graveside Funeral Service for Vaneta will be Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel. There will be Visitation at Short Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry, Mt. Carmel, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
