Shirley F Brown

          Shirley F. Brown, 89, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, at home.

          She was born October 22, 1927, in Oakland, California, the daughter of Raymond Jackson and Alice Blackman.  On May 24, 1947, she married Edgar William Brown. 

          Shirley was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel and was involved in EUM’s Bible Study.  For fourteen years she worked as a teller for Security Bank and Trust.  She was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

          Left to cherish her memory is her children, Eileen and husband Jim White of Mt. Carmel and David and his wife Elizabeth Brown of Cottontown, Tennessee; grandchildren, Joshua (Stacey) White, Abby (Jeff) Johnson, Kyle (Valery) Brown and Sara Brown; great-grandchildren, Eliana Johnson, J.J. White, Caleb White, Evan Brown and Alex Brown.

          Preceding her in death was her parents, husband, and sisters, Margaret Chamberlin, Myrtle Soulé and Bobbe Huntting.

          The memorial service will be Monday April 3, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 2010 N. Cherry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  Her cremains will be placed with her husband’s in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

          Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to  Evangelical United Methodist Church.  Envelopes will be available at the church.
