Richard D. Shaw

Richard D. Shaw, 77, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017, at HealthSouth Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

He was born February 10, 1940, in Albion, IL the son of Lyman and Barbara (Lancaster) Shaw. Richard married Phyllis Eggebrecht in Mt. Carmel on July 7, 1963.

Richard enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife and family.  He owned and operated Shaw Contractors and Builders and R & R Coal until his retirement in 1992. Richard was a devoted member of Heartland Worship Center in Mt. Carmel

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Phyllis; two children, Scott and his wife Shannon Shaw of Noblesville, IN and Mindy and her husband Dave Blais of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren, Ravin Wilkinson, Jake Shaw, Tyler Shaw, Camden Shaw, Austin Shaw, and Aidan Blais; six great grandchildren, Jamelynn, Olivia, Gabriel, Madison, Liam, and Gracelyn; two sisters, Nancy VanVorst and Sally and her husband Pat Hulfachor both of Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Richard in death were his parents, Lyman and Barbara and one brother, Ron Shaw.

 Visitation for friends and family will be Sunday June 11, 2017 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.  in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home.  Funeral service for Richard will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel with entombment immediately following at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

 Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Heartland Worship Center or The Mt. Camel Veterans Honor Guard.
