Raymond Alvin Veihman, 98, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at home surrounded by family.

He was born Sunday, February 25, 1917 in Wabash County, Illinois, the son of Allen Isaac and Ida M. (Rodgers) Veihman. He married Evah Opal Bare on Saturday, June 10, 1944 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She survives.

Raymond was a member of Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church. He was Superintendent of hogs at the Wabash County Fair for many years and Precinct Committeeman for ASCS for decades. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and a member of the 4-H Youth Foundation Board.

He attended Ogden Community School and graduated Mt. Carmel High School in the class of 1934. He was a farmer and worked at Snap-On Tools, retiring in 1996 after 34 years of service. As a farmer he raised grain, hogs, chickens and cattle. He loved all animals, especially his cats and dogs.

He enjoyed family vacation, heading out one way and figuring out a different route back home to view what God had created and seeing the different crops in the area. He loved spending time with family, farming with his son and working with his colleagues at Snap-On.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 71 years, Evah; children, Ruth (Bob) Livingston, Marilyn (Jim) Cox and Paul (Goldie) Veihman, all of Mt. Carmel; three grandchildren, Julie (Dwight) Stricklin of Lexington, IL, Carrie (Ryan) Parmenter of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Sallie (Charlie) Dolan of Catlin, IL; seven great grandchildren, Jordan and Alex Stricklin, Jacob, Ethan and Isaac Parmenter, Naomi and Alana Dolan; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Ralph and Clifton Veihman; and sisters Mary Painter and Vera Lesher.
