Mildred E. (Howe) Glenn

March 12, 1914 ~ July 30, 2016 (age 102) 102 Years Old


 

            Mildred Glenn, 101, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Oakview Heights in Mt. Carmel.

 

            Mildred was born the oldest child of Thomas and Clara Howe on Saturday, September 12, 1914, in Wabash County, Illinois.   She married Marion Estes Glenn on Saturday, May 6, 1936, in Orio, Illinois. They were married for 33 years. Mildred went to high school in Friendsville, Illinois.  She loved working in her vegetable garden and sewing for her family.  Mildred belonged to the Red Hat Society and was a lifelong member of the Barneys Prairie Christian Church which she loved.   

 

            Left to cherish her memories are her son, Eddie Glenn, of Mt. Carmel, two granddaughters, Michelle (Randy) Seibert and Melinda (Gerald) Eads, both of Mt. Carmel; six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a very special friend, Susie Wood

 

            Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Marion Estes Glenn; daughter-in-law, Mary Glenn; brother, Vern Howe; sister, Pat Smith; and granddaughter, Melissa Glenn.

 

            There will be a graveside service for Mildred at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Friendsville cemetery in Friendsville, Illinois.  There will be no visitation.  

 

            Expressions of sympathy may be made in Mildred’s name to Celtic Hospice; envelopes will be available at the graveside service and at Short Funeral Home, 527 North Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel.
