Max Yarbor

November 5, 1932 ~ August 3, 2016 (age 83) 83 Years Old


            Max Yarbor, 83, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

 

            He was born, November 5, 1932, the youngest child of William Richard Jackson “Red” and Ona Minnie (Woods) Yarbor, in Gibson County, Indiana.  Max served in the U.S. Air Force.  On June 6, 1953, he married Alma Fay “Cricket” Renner at New Shawnee Town, Illinois.  She preceded him in death.  In 2002, Max married Gloria (Bledsoe).  In 2006, she passed away. 

 

            Max was a member of the Mt. Carmel Church of Nazarene.  He worked as a self-employed mechanic from 1954 to 1997.  Max served as a lay minister for Oakview Heights.  Woodworking and gardening were hobbies Max thoroughly loved and enjoyed.  His family was his main concern after his first dedication to his Lord and Savior.    

 

            Left to cherish his memories is his children, Daniel and wife Linda Yarbor, Sharon and husband William McKinley, Nancy Lofton and late husband Kevin, and David Yarbor and significant other, Jason Woodard; step-children, Gary Bledsoe, Brenda Jones and David Bledsoe; grandchildren, Kim (Mike) Mandrel, Amanda (Jake) Macer, Nathan (Erin) Yarbor, Tracy (Jay) Masaitis, Tony McKinley, Chuck Lofton and Casey Lofton; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Reverend John and wife Bessie Yarbor; Donna Jones, a niece he thought as a daughter; and several nieces and nephews.

 

            Preceding him in death was his parents, his first wife “Cricket”, his second wife Gloria, son-in-law Kevin Lofton, siblings Ben Yarbor, Helen Houchins and Margaret Stewart.

 

            Visitation for Max is Friday, August 5, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home.

 

            Funeral services will be Saturday, August 6, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home with burial at Nye Chapel Cemetery

 

            Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Mt. Carmel Church of the Nazarene.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
